University of Wisconsin at Madison - MFA Posted on April 29th
The Program in Creative Writing offers a two-year Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing in the areas of fiction and poetry. The MFA program is small with typically six new students admitted each year. It is also somewhat unusual in that fiction writers are admitted in even-numbered years while poets are admitted in odd-numbered years. This alternating admissions schedule allows us to keep our classes small and to focus enirely on one group of writers for their entire two years with us.
The Program in Creative Writing also offers PhD students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison the chance to incorporate creative writing as part of their course of studies in the form of a minor in creative writing.
For questions about graduate studies in creative writing that are not answered on this website, please contact the Director of the MFA Program,Associate Professor Judith Claire Mitchell.
