Rosemont College - MFA Creative Writing Posted on April 26th

The M.F.A. faculty warmly welcomes your interest in our program. We believe that there has never been a more exciting time to hone your craft as an artist and to extend your love of the written word through advanced graduate study.

Rosemont’s M.F.A. in Creative Writing offers students the opportunity to hone their craft in a variety of writing workshops taught by a talented and dedicated writing faculty. Literature courses give students the opportunity to explore rich literary traditions as a basis to further develop their own unique styles and voices. In addition, students may select electives from non-workshop writing classes, interdisciplinary courses that draw on other facets of the arts (such as theatre and visual art) to speak to the writing process, and publishing courses that provide valuable insight into the practical side of becoming a published writer.

Together, students and faculty form a dynamic, productive writing community. Students expand the boundaries of their talent, experience new techniques and viewpoints, discover the rich traditions of the literary world, and ground themselves in the practical knowledge of the publishing industry. This community of writers is brought even closer together through events such as monthly Student/Faculty readings and visiting authors. In addition, students have the opportunity to showcase their work in our online literary journal, Parlor, for which they can also elect to serve as staff and gain valuable experience in editing a literary publication.

Currently, the M.F.A. program accepts students in two major genres: Poetry and Prose (either Fiction or Creative Non-Fiction).

We understand that you are a busy adult, with many other commitments in your life, so we keep our course schedules as flexible as possible. We meet in the evenings and on weekends throughout the calendar year. Our classes are small and our approach is personal. Program graduates have been successful in publishing their work and in obtaining and advancing their careers as both writers and instructors of writing and literature.
