The MFA at UTEP is an interesting program becasue it is the first and only fully bilingual MFA. The program offers Spanish speakers the opportunity to study creative writing, as well as work with mentors in their native language, and it is also an extremely interesting linguistic opportunity for native English speakers who speak Spanish. As I interviewed Mr Payne, he outlined how the bilingual MFA came about, as well as what exactly a bilingual MFA program consists of.
